What is Mazda I-ACTIVSENSE®?

Mazda I-ACTIVSENSE® is an active approach to safety. This suite of advanced driver-assistive technologies uses a combination of milliwave radars and cameras to actively monitor the road for any potential hazards, help you stay alert when traveling at all speeds, minimize the severity of a collision, and help you avoid collisions entirely.

What Safety Features Come with Mazda I-ACTIVSENSE®?

Mazda I-ACTIVSENSE® comes with eight life-saving technologies: Adaptive Front-lighting System, High Beam Control, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Rear Vehicle Monitoring System, Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Obstruction Warning, Smart City Brake Support and Acceleration Control for AT.

Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS)

Fight driver drowsiness with Adaptive Front-lighting System. This innovative system increases your safety at night by enhancing your visibility around curves. The Adaptive Front-lighting System works to illuminate more of the road by stretching a greater distance and shining brighter than traditional halogen headlights. This intelligent system points your low-beam headlights in the direction you're traveling by assessing your vehicle's speed and steering inputs, so you can take on the dark with confidence!

High Beam Control (HBC)

Enhance your visibility without blinding your fellow drivers with High Beam Control. This safety system helps you automatically switch between high and low beams for greater safety at night. By detecting the headlights of an oncoming vehicle and the taillights of a preceding vehicle, this system can automatically turn off your high beams before they impair another driver. This way, you can enjoy a wider field of vision without having to worry about compromising the safety of other drivers.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC)

If you struggle to keep a safe distance from the vehicle traveling ahead of you, you'll benefit from Mazda Radar Cruise Control. This system uses a millimeter wave radar to judge the relative speed and distance of the vehicle traveling ahead of you to help avoid a collision. With this system, your Mazda will constantly be adjusting and maintaining the perfect following distance, which you can monitor visually with your Distance Recognition Support System (DRSS).

Rear Vehicle Monitoring System (RVM)

To help you stay vigilant of vehicles traveling around you on county roads or busy highways, Mazda has created its Rear Vehicle Monitoring System. This system uses a rear bumper-mounted quasi-milliwave 24 GHz radar to measure the distance between you and the vehicles approaching behind and beside you in neighboring lanes. This radar is resistant to harsh weather and solar radiation, so you'll enjoy 24/7 protection, 365 days a year.

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

If you enjoy cruising down the highway, the Lane Departure Warning System will greatly enhance your drives. If for some reason you begin to drift out of your lane, the Lane Departure Warning System will quickly sound an alarm to notify you of your sudden drift. If you use your blinker and properly accelerate to make a lane change, however, the alarm won't sound because the system recognizes that maneuver as intentional.

Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW)

Avoid an unwanted head-on collision with Forward Obstruction Warning. This system actively detects any vehicles or obstacles positioned in front of your car with its millimeter-wave radar, and calculates your distance from them. If it detects a collision is likely, an alarm will sound and you'll receive a visual alert prompting you to apply your brakes.

Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)

If you're a city-dweller and commute on tight, narrow roads, you'll appreciate Smart City Brake Support. This innovative system helps you prevent frontal collisions at low speeds while touring about the city. The laser sensor mounted on your windshield constantly monitors the car ahead of you, and can detect if a collision is likely. If it predicts a collision is imminent, it'll promptly urge you to brake, or automatically brake for you if it deems you weren't doing so before.

Acceleration Control for AT

Acceleration Control for AT acts as an added layer of protection for Illinois drivers. In the event that you mistakenly pressed down on your accelerator, Acceleration Control for AT will swiftly curb that unintended acceleration to prevent a collision. It will also alert you audibly of your mistake and display a visible warning light.
